I hope everyone enjoyed reading about the wonderful personal care products I received.
Part two will focus on everything else.

• I got the cream cleanser from EcoStore USA. It is a cleanser that can be used to clean just about any surface. I love the smell and I love that it is earth-friendly and not harmful to me and my family.

• From Naked Binder, I received 9 binders in different colors. These are great! They are sturdy and will last, not to mention they are very green. I will be able to find many good purposes for these.

• From Buygreen.com I decided to get a wool pillow, it is standard size and firm and I love it! It seems like it has been a long time since I had a really good, quality pillow, but now I finally have one that is green and healthy. Definitely one of my favorites.

• Watercheck.biz sent me an indoor water conservation kit. I have not had the opportunity to use everything in the kit yet, but it is a great little kit to help you make your home more eco-conscious.

• Ecominders sent me some of all 3 of their product lines. I also received t-shirts and a reusable tote, which I take to the farmers market with me every Thursday. I love these products. They serve as great reminders to take steps to be more friendly to the planet and to be more conscious of what we are doing.

• Barefoot Books sent me 2 books from their collection. One called Whole World and another called The Sun in Me. These are both great books to teach children about being kind to the planet and about the earth and all of the beautiful things that it holds

• weeBgreen sent a kidzsack that is adorable!!! I don’t have any children, but I know just the little girl who will absolutely love it! These little bags are great, they are recycled and the markers are non-toxic.

• Project GLO sent me 15 pens, and I absolutely love them!!! These pens are so great to use and so great for the planet.

• From Intentionkits.com I received an intention kit with confidence, strength, and courage intention cards and intention tiles with the words power, strength, confidence, courage, and Ask! Believe! Receive! These are great little kits to help focus on areas in which one feels they need help or improvement.

• From Natural Luxe I ordered a scrabble tile pendant which I absolutely adore! This is another one of my favorite items. I had a very hard time choosing what to order with my gift certificate, but I am so glad that I chose this.

• From Happy Baby Organics I received coupons for trial offers for many of their meals. As I stated before I do not have children, but I am going to give these to some friends so that they can try the products.

Ginny’s GMW Giveaway Review Part 2

I was contacted by Rebecca Wolpinski of Barefoot Books a little while back.  She wanted to introduce me to her company and have Chloe and Abby review some of their books.  To keep with the purpose of Eco-Office Gals we picked the “Whole World” set.  It comes with a beautifully illustrated hard copy edition printed on forest friendly paper which includes sing-along CD and eco-tips for preserving the planet”—The O List*, a work book and a reusable bag.

My girls were so excited when the box arrived and they found out it was something for them.  We never made it past the kitchen floor singing and doing the hand motions, then they were off to the kitchen table to go throught the workbook.  Chloe continued to sing the song for the rest of the day.

The illustrations are vibrant and fun.  The girls almost didn’t let me read as they picked out the many images on each page and decided who was who. We really got into this book (ask my 13 year old son, he walked into the kitchen as we all sat on the floor singing… we got some strange looks! LOL)

So, what has the company Barefoot Books done to grow green?

• Forestry We ensure that our printers source the paper on which our books are printed from ancient-forest friendly sources. This means that the paper suppliers are obliged to replant trees that they have harvested, and that they do not damage rainforests or other ancient woodlands.
• Shipping Many of our books are transported across considerable distances. We very rarely use planes as a method of transporting stock. Typically, our books are shipped by boat.
• Community Based Approach The traditional book industry operates on a returnable basis which means that books often move from the publisher to the distributor and then back again. This wastes lots of fuel and cardboard and often results in damaged product which can’t be sold. At Barefoot, we have adopted a more grassroots communal approach to marketing our books, avoiding the wasteful practices of the bigger distributors, and working with a broad network of independent retailers and partners, including our rapidly growing community of home-sellers.

• Communications We set out to minimize paper use by communicating as much as possible online and by telephone. We recycle the paper that we use for print communication.
• Office Supplies We buy our office supplies from green manufacturers and our office paper is recycled. We buy our refreshments, including coffee, tea, and milk from a local organic market. We wash and reuse real glasses and mugs instead of paper or plastic.
• Recycling All of our paper and other recyclable office materials are taken to a local recycling center on a weekly basis. We recycle the toner used in our printers and copiers.
• Electricity We use energy efficient light bulbs to light our office.
• Travel We try to reduce Barefoot’s carbon footprint by minimizing travel. We take the train or bus as often as possible as an alternative to cars and airplanes.
• Employee Involvement We all work together to ensure that computers, lights and equipment are turned off when not in use.
