Happy Monday Morning!  Hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to get the new week started!

So, I got to try out their Acai Pomegranate Rejuvenating Masque: (from site)

I loved this masque! Be forwarned that it will make a bit of a purple red mess and temporarily turns your finger nails a little purple. I guess it’s really no different then if you were eating a Pomegranate. However, the result is insanly soft skin with a kind of tingling feeling.  I just mixed it with a very small amount of water, but I will be trying their Cranberry & Honey recipe soon! I also got my husband to join in the mini-makeover and it really calmed red flakiness he suffers from. While we were at it I slapped some on my mother-in-law (no, not literally) the next morning and she was very happy with how clean and smooth her face felt. All of us were very happy with this Masque!

I dropped the ball last Monday. I wasn’t feeling so great and I spent the entire day in bed, barely keeping up with email and obviously not posting another great review and giveaway.  However, Flaunt It! Monday is back this morning with another great green company.

EcoStore USA was originally founded in New Zeland fifteen years ago and is now branching it’s way over to the United States. It’s marketing tag line is “No nasty chemicals” they offer green and clean concentrated products at a wallet friendly cost.  Their product line consists of Baby Care, Bath & Body, Hair, Household & Petcare.  For Flaunt It! Monday I decided to go with hair.  Why? If you have met me in person you already know that hair is a challenge for me.  I have curly hair and LOTS of it!  If any of their products were going to be put to the test, it was hair!

The products reviewed (from the site):

Rosemary Orange Shampoo: Combining nature’s best products and aromatherapy Ecostore USA has created a wonderful shampoo that will bring volume and life back to your hair.

Rosemary Orange Conditioner:  Rosemary Orange Conditioner gives body to oily, lifeless hair. This gentle formulation is made with NO NASTY CHEMICALS that could possibly strip hair of essential oils.

Vanilla Shampoo: An alluring combination of eco science and aromatherapy our Vanilla Shampoo is nourishing for the scalp. This is an excellent product for chemically treated hair.

Vanilla Conditioner: Ecostore USA does not put damaging chemicals into their hair products. Using the finest therapeutic grade essential oils, the Vanilla Conditioner will bring life back to chemically treated hair.

They also added 2 bars of soap to the package.  I have only used the LemonGrass Soap so far, but it smells awesome and lasts forever (which would be why I haven’t had the chance to open the second bar)!

I put these products to the test on my family and here are my thoughts:

Scent: Overall the Vanilla products were my favorite scent.  Even my neighbor and Mother-in-law apparently sneaked a sniff when visiting the facilities since they both commented on the Vanilla Shampoo/Conditioners.

Shampoo results: Both shampoos worked equally well.  They lathered up and washed well. My husband suffers from extreme dry scalp and even thought the vanilla may have removed the dry skin from his hair.  A little goes a long way.  I have had these bottles in my house for over a month and both are still a little less then half full.  These are not HUGE bottles so that is pretty impressive with 5 people in the house.

Conditioner results: This is an area you will really make or break it with me.  Conditioner in my hair has to be about the consistency of mayo to get any real results.  Unfortunately, this conditioner was much thinner and it took huge amounts to cover my hair.  It did work and made my hair soft and manageable, but the amounts used made the bottles disappear very quickly.  That said, it DID work well on the rest of the family (since they are not a direct descendant of Carrot Top).  Final decision, if you are blessed with normal hair and not a thick frizzy mop you are definitely good to go with these products!

I had such an insanely successful weekend giveaway with Mama Goes Green’s Better Life Trio, I decided to take a break from Flaunt it! Meanwhile, there are tons of announcements on the home front and nationwide I would like to share with you.  First, if you are on the Eco-Office Gals site right now you may notice it is COMPLETELY different.  If you are reading this in your email or reader please come check out the new site and tell me what you think! Joe, of Zealous Marketing has been wonderful enough to turn Eco-Office Gals up a notch for the new year and I really love it!  Yes, we have a few bugs to work out, but once it is complete I think you will be impressed.

Eco-Office Gals will start writing a monthly post for 5 Minutes For Going Green.  I was more then flattered when I was accepted for this spot, since some of the other writers are bloggers and greenies I look up to.  They set the standards and recognition I hope to achieve in my own business.  I hope to learn and grow from this experience and welcome any suggestions for my guest spot as well as what you would like to learn more about here on Eco-Office Gals.

Outside My Box:

This week is not all about Eco-Office Gals changing.  If you just woke up from hibernation tomorrow may come as a surprise to you.  Obama will become the 44th president of the United States and I am very excited to see and be part of the change he offers with his presidency.  No matter who you voted for in the election I hope we can all unite tomorrow and turn this trainwreck we call the economy, the environment, the war on terrorism (insert more here) around.  Just like growing green one person can’t do it alone and every little step you take counts.

Additionally, it is Martin Luther King Day today.  I wish you a happy and healthy day today and hope you will take a moment to reflect on the change he made long ago that makes tomorrow’s event possible!

So, go forth and conquer this week and with everything you do, Grow Green!

What is it?

Eco-Office Gals is always looking for small businesses growing green.  The Flaunt It! Monday series is where Eco-Office Gals reviews your eco-friendly product and business and offers a giveaway for readers to get to know you, your product and your website and enter for a chance to win your product.  I do not take payment for these reviews and giveaways, I may include certain facts at your request about your product but I will not lie or give an opinion that is not my own.  It has yet to happen, but should I completely dislike your product I will contact you and give you the option of not having me post the review and giveaway.

Who makes a good sponsor?

If you have a TRULY green product and want it flaunted, you make a good sponsor.  If you want an honest, unrehearsed review of your product, you make a good sponsor. My reading audience is mainly female, moms, small business owners, and greenies but we also have a readership of all gender, age and backgrounds.

What do I need from you?

I need you to contact me with your product or site information.  If your product is a good fit you will send the item agreed on to Eco-Office Gals for review.  If I do not feel your product, company, organization or group is eco-friendly and something readers would like to know about, I reserve the right to not accept your product and will not do a review or post on my site.

When Eco-Office Gals flaunts you and announces the winner (giveaway runs for 3 days), I will then forward the winning email to you.  You will then be responsible for getting the prize out to the winner promptly. Products sent to me for review will not be returned or forwarded to the winner.

What’s in it for you?

You will be flaunted for 3 days.  Eco-Office Gals submits the giveaway to various online giveaway sites, twitter and other social networking groups.  I drive traffic to your site by asking the reader to visit your site as part of the entry.  They will be asked to comment about their favorite product, facts about your product or business or find a location where your product can be found in their area.  You are given a 125×125 ad spot in my sidebar for the entire month of the giveaway.  I link back to your site several times within the post.  My site receives 500-600 unique visits per day during these giveaways.  I have a 4/10 Google PR and 210,754 alexa rank. I was contacted by Rebecca Wolpinski of Barefoot Books a little while back.  She wanted to introduce me to her company and have Chloe and Abby review some of their books.  To keep with the purpose of Eco-Office Gals we picked the “Whole World” set.  It comes with a beautifully illustrated hard copy edition printed on forest friendly paper which includes sing-along CD and eco-tips for preserving the planet”—The O List*, a work book and a reusable bag.

My girls were so excited when the box arrived and they found out it was something for them.  We never made it past the kitchen floor singing and doing the hand motions, then they were off to the kitchen table to go throught the workbook.  Chloe continued to sing the song for the rest of the day.

• Community Based Approach The traditional book industry operates on a returnable basis which means that books often move from the publisher to the distributor and then back again. This wastes lots of fuel and cardboard and often results in damaged product which can’t be sold. At Barefoot, we have adopted a more grassroots communal approach to marketing our books, avoiding the wasteful practices of the bigger distributors, and working with a broad network of independent retailers and partners, including our rapidly growing community of home-sellers.

• Communications We set out to minimize paper use by communicating as much as possible online and by telephone. We recycle the paper that we use for print communication.
• Office Supplies We buy our office supplies from green manufacturers and our office paper is recycled. We buy our refreshments, including coffee, tea, and milk from a local organic market. We wash and reuse real glasses and mugs instead of paper or plastic.
• Recycling All of our paper and other recyclable office materials are taken to a local recycling center on a weekly basis. We recycle the toner used in our printers and copiers.
• Electricity We use energy efficient light bulbs to light our office.
• Travel We try to reduce Barefoot’s carbon footprint by minimizing travel. We take the train or bus as often as possible as an alternative to cars and airplanes.
• Employee Involvement We all work together to ensure that computers, lights and equipment are turned off when not in use.

Monday morning once again! Last week was a crazy week of monsoon rains. The rest of the country had some freak weather, too and I hope this post finds all of you safe and warm.

Another week of pampering your winter skin.  This time by Nurture My Body. Their products are 100% biodegradable, cruelty-free, and do not contain harmful synthetic fragrance oils, preservatives, petroleum products, FD&C colorants and dyes, parabens, phthalates, or other toxic chemicals.  Additionally, they come to us with an endless list of credentials to make sure you are using a safe and eco-friendly product!

This company is run by a husband and wife team Patty & Rich.  I met Rich on Twitter and he has become a fun Twitterbud on my follower list!!

All my products came in a very timely manner.  Since I had such an issue deciding from all the great products I left it in Rich’s hands.  The following are the site descriptions of the products that were sent to me (feel free to click the links for the full description):

I will immediately start with a slight repeat from last week.  There is really something to be said for natural fragrance.  It is such a HUGE difference from the many companies out there that throw a bunch of junk together to try to make something smell like the real thing!

The Citrus lotion is wonderful! Smells like I rubbed down with raw fruit, seriously!!  It’s not a thick lotion, but it covers well and my skin feels very soft this morning.

The Herbal wash is very sudzy. I have mentioned in a past posts my issue with natural cleaners and soaps. I would find that any products that I don’t want to soap up do and those I do… don’t.  But this past my test, a little bit want a long way! Thumbs up!

The lavender toner, I had to read up on this one since I had never used toner before.  Just spray on before applying your face creme.  So, I did and applied last week’s face creme on top.  It was the flowery scent with the lavender again, not my favorite, but since I am continuing to see great results from last week I am willing to add this to my regimen to battle the crease.

Once again some really great products and I LOVE the blue bottles that can be reused once you empty the original contents.

Good Monday morning! We have another company to flaunt to you!  Organically Happy is another great company I found on twitter. Organically Happy is an organic boutique style site that searches for product lines that meet their organic and chemical free requirements. They bring you upscale trendiness with the assurance that the products have been thoroughly researched! Their product line includes bath and body, face care, fashion and more. The site is very pretty and their is so much to choose from!

So, the customer service.  Shame on you FedEx!  Yah, some FedEx guy is walking around with the Chocolate face mask, anti-aging balm & lip-balm I was supposed to try.  It never made it to my hot little hands… and I was so looking forward to tasting trying that chocolate face mask! So, Debra was very quick to send my second delivery which came in Saturday night… the delivery guy looked awful young, but I didn’t get close enough to see if I could smell spa products! Customer service for FedEx BAD… for Organically Happy Very Good!

Round two was a full size Trevarno organic rose & jojoba moisturizer.  A description from the site:

A luxurious organic cream moisturizer to nourish, condition and protect the skin. Roses are used for their rejuvenating and healing effect on the skin and anti-inflammatory properties. This moisturiser is slightly heavier in consistency than the Day Cream and is particularly suitable for dry skin types and more mature skin protecting the skin during harsh weather conditions.

All Trevarno products are certified by Organic Farmers and Growers, one of the UK’s largest organic certification bodies.

So, my thoughts… this creme is so thick and creamy! And one application lasts all day.  I have this little crease under my left eye, I guess it’s the way I sleep… anyway I swear it has faded some in just two days!  My mother-in-law tried some and she loves it, too.  I told her I would split the bottle up with her so she can use it.  I will say this though, if you consider buying this make sure you love roses.  You will smell like roses, real roses not some chemical imitation fragrance.  It was a little overwhelming on the first application.  I have a super sensitive sniffer and since I’m not much for flowery scents I initially thought this was not going to work for me.  I was thinking about giving my Mother in law the whole bottle.  However, I put some more on that night and my sniffer adjusted to it much better.  My ultimate seller was the next morning; it’s cold and the heaters dry my face out so bad!  When I woke up yesterday morning and didn’t feel like my skin was going to crack apart and fall off my face… then my faded crease discovery! YEAH! I LOVE IT!

Hey everyone!  Missed you and hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I may submit to one more turkey plate, but then the dogs may have a little feast themselves.  It’s a far cry from the garbage they insist on getting into, so I don’t think they will complain.

So, here we are with another company growing green.  First a little naked truth about the Naked Binder. I want to start with the site itself.  It is a very simple and clean site, but maybe it’s just me – they have one heck of a writing team!  Who knew you could get excited reading about binders!!  I can tell this group has a real passion for the products they design and want the consumer to make an educated purchase! BRAVO!

The products are… naked, no colorful vinyl, inks, pockets.  A binder with rings in it’s most simplest form.  Yet, they are strong and functional, non-toxic and according to their site anything that is not indestructible is recyclable! They’ve been tested, made as energy efficiently as possible and the company is open and honest about their claims.  The only con I can offer is I am a D-ring Gal and all the products seem to be O-Ring.  But now that I work at home and make every attempt not to print, I can’t really complain. Correction:  They do offer D-ring… no cons!

Good Monday morning!  It’s been pretty dang chilly in SC, we even had a few snow flurries the other night!!  Hope everyone is staying warm. Time to feature another great company growing green.

Radius is a small natural products design company in the USA. Most well known for its innovative toothbrushes, RADIUS was started by entrepreneur Kevin Foley, an architect now product designer. Kevin one day decided to start on a new journey. And Radius was born. Radius is dedicated to having fun with design to make life better. And that’s IT. Radius is not a product. Radius is a lifestyle. Radius is another company I came across on Twitter.  I was given the opportunity to check out their SOURCE tooth brush.

I’ll begin with customer service.  My box arrived in the mail with not just my toothbrush, but 2 toothbrushes and 2 types of floss & 2 travel cases!  They really went beyond my expectations, I had so many neat things to try!

The product:  I have been using the Source toothbrush for almost a month now and I am very happy with it.  This is what Radius tells us about the Source:

• 93% Recycled Material – 47% Renewable Resource

• Replaceable Heads + Wooden Handle = Only 7% of toothbrush wasted as compared to 100% of ordinary toothbrushes.

• Wooden Handle is molded from recycled wood bio-plastic resulting in 100% renewable resource.

• New lightweight unbreakable replacement heads made from surgical-grade nylon.

• Dramatically increases softness and efficacy of brushing with 65% more bristle tufts than ordinary toothbrush.

• Reversible for both Right or Left handed brushing – Available in soft or medium bristles.

• Handle lasts forever. Simply throw the heads away!

I love the bristles, it really gives coverage I have not had in my typical toothbrushes and makes a great tounge scrubber! The design is unique, functional and eco-friendly all the way down to the packaging made from recycled plastic soda bottles.

Now I have to admit, I was a little nervous about the cranberry floss.  I love cranberries; in a muffin, class of juice or on my plate on Thanksgiving.  However, I guess I’ve been a little brainwashed when it comes to brushing.  When I think of paste and floss I think of minty fresh!   So, why cranberry?  This informative site give us a little insight:

Coated with pure unsweetened cranberry essence, which is removed during the action of flossing and deposited on the gums to help break up plaque. The floss is spun in natural beeswax to help sliding through tight spaces.

Research has shown that the proanthocyanidins present in cranberry essence are effective in reversing and inhibiting the clumping of bacteria that cause plaque and subsequently may help in maintaining good oral hygiene.

Plaque is considered the major source of pathogens that cause gingival irritation and periodontal disease.

So, there is a method behind the madness!  Alas, I gave it a try and I really don’t taste anything.  Now it’s a matter of getting religious about using it.  I’m trying Dr. Reynolds, I really am!
