So, what will your Green Steps be for 2009? I have the 3 R’s covered for 2009:
- Reduce – buy a reusable coffee filter and reduce paper waste.
- Reuse – Work at remembering my reusable shopping bags when I go to the store!
- Recycle – I would like to try to start a compost pile. I’d love to have one of those cool expensive tumblers, but I guess I’ll go the old fashion route.
What green steps will you try to make in 2009? Please share by leaving a comment below! All the best in 2009!

Turn off my power to all of my computers, tv’s, radios, etc.. By doing that every night, I’ll conserve a lot of energy and save big!

Those are great green steps Jen! Thanks for that I don’t drink coffee but that’s
a great idea for a gift to my parents.

I put a couple of railroad ties in the back corner of my yard, and
throw all the raked up leaves, etc. into it. Makes great compost!

This will be my year to eliminate the use of synthetic chemicals on my lawn by switching over to natural pest control.
Just keeping topics on Green and Sustainable living visible through posts like this is a very effective step in the Green process. Real changes will only occur when people are aware that there are safer and healthier alternatives to the practices and products we have always been using!

Thanks for the CD recycling link Melissa! I don’t have pets myself, besides the occasional field mouse that finds it’s way in the house! UGH. But I have seen some sites for green pets I’ll look into it and come back with links! Maybe other commenters can leave some links, too?

I just found a great site for recycling CDs and DVDs:
http://www.cdrecyclingcenter.com
I also am hoping to remember to bring bags with me when I go shopping, and
I also want to “Green” my pets – any suggestions on how to do this?
The most important thing for me is to stop before I undertake a new project or before I make a new purchase and think, “Could I be doing this in a better (more environmentally friendly) way?”
