Usually your office place is anything but “green”. You might think you don’t have that much control over what your office provides when it comes to sustainable living but that’s where you’d be wrong.
There are dozens of eco-friendly office products that help you save the planet a little at a time. Here are three items that I couldn’t live without at work.
Good Bye Sticky Notes, Hello Bamboo Board
Before I bought this beautiful dry-erase board my desk was always covered in sticky notes. It wasn’t uncommon to go through a pack a month.
Not only did this clutter my desk (and a cluttered desk creates a cluttered mind) but I was wasting trees and company money doing it. I use this bamboo dry-erase board to track my time, show my to-do list, and to jot down quick notes.
They come in all different sizes and materials and are relatively inexpensive compared to my sticky note fetish. I have the 10×9 tablet, which fits nicely on a desk and is accessible if I want to carry it around to meetings.
Reusable Tumbler
When you get coffee in the morning, do you bring your own tumbler or use their plastic cups?
Many coffee shops even offer a discount when you bring your own tumbler or cup to be filled. While you can definitely use any eco-friendly tumbler or even a mason jar, I absolutely love my BPA free cup that looks like the plastic cups you get at coffee shops. It’s also dishwasher and microwave safer so I don’t have to worry about dirtying another cup to warm up my drink.
Essential Oils
I love using essential oils to clean my desk and revitalize my senses while I work. I place a few drops of wild orange or peppermint essential oil on a paper towel or cloth to wipe down my desk every week. It has such a pleasant yet perky aroma that keeps me going at work. It also has cleaning properties to make sure you don’t get what everyone else at work came down with.
Side note: For those who hate rats and spiders, peppermint oil is a great way to keep them away as they don’t like the smell.
