Well, Earth Day ended up being interesting in many unexpected ways. You may have seen on Twitter, I was forced into energy conservation when our new puppy decided to yank the charger out of the laptop and it, unknowingly, landed in the dogs water bowl! So, no computer for the first half of the day and I hated missing out on all of the Earth Day fun!! But the party was going strong without me on the Giveaway with my stats blowing away anything I had seen since I launched by thousands! YES!
After reading thru over 500 entries I picked Joanna Smith:
It was a tough one to choose from, but there was one person that really came out shining green. EVERYDAY she gave me readers in depth in site on the sponsoring companies, natural home cleaner recipes, steps she has implemented, steps she wants to integrate into her green living routine, she faithfully RT’d the giveaway…. all in all I noticed her really stepping up to the challenge for this giveaway over the entire time it ran.
Her awesome email response further confirmed she was the perfect recipient of this prize:
Wow, what a way to make my day today! Yay! You can imagine how very honored and thrilled I am! I truly appreciate what you wrote about choosing me as the winner, it made me feel so special, thank you so
much!I looked forward to visiting your site everyday to enter because it motivated me to research and learn so much about the importance and significance of “greening up my fact” for the health and safety of my family as well as the earth and the environment around us. Going through that exercise everyday to really think about what I personally can do to make a difference is now a routine I want to continue to do everyday, thanks to you and Eco-Office Girls, the journey will continue!
I want to thank you so much for truly making my world a greener world, and for allowing me to be a part of your online community. Together we all can make a difference, green up our act, and live much healthier lives as a result of it!
Of course we cannot wrap up the giveaway with out sending out a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the Green My World Sponsors and their awesome green contributions!

Around the blogshphere, the Giveaway wasn’t the only topic making a buzz. Eco-Office Gals was honored to be mentioned on TreeHugger: Top Tweets of the Week on Earth Day 2009. Additionally, in my efforts to bring awareness of Coca-Cola promoting the use of plastic for Earth Day it brought about serveral re-tweets, a wonderful spotlight on The Good Human, and News Cloud picked it up as well. Unfortunatly, not only did Coca-Cola feel no need to make mention of the issue on Twitter, FaceBook, their blog or their rewards site, but an additional article was released in the newswire What is the Real Thing, Really?: Coke’s Earth Day PR Thinly Veils Poor Track Record.
So, now what? At the house we are still composting away, waiting for the grass to grow and we have an area ready to start planting some veggies! Flaunt It! Monday will pick back up next month and more tips, tricks and services from Eco-Office Gals as always! Don’t make Earth Day a once a year event!
Grow Green!

Love the blog and it was a great competition … even for the people who didn’t win and didn’t enter! The takeaway value for me was all the cool eco-friendly stores that featured on the blog – I’ve got a bunch more ideas for Christmas gifts now. Hooray! Knowing that these companies are willing to put their money where their mouths are and give away their products to help promote the cause only makes them all the more appealing. The stainless steel water bottles and waste-free lunch kits have another biggest fan 🙂

Earth Day is the beginning of earth week, earth month and hopefully soon “Earth Year and Earth Century.” As our awareness and consciousness is raised, the momentum for positive change will increase. Sometimes it seems that constructive change takes place so slowly, when in fact, in retrospect, it arrives quickly. Thanks for making a difference!
