This opens up plenty of potential customers for a digital marketing company. So let’s say you take the dive and decide to start up your own online marketing business, how can you get it to stand out from the rest?
Its 2015 for Greens Sake
Well how about turning your business a bit more eco-friendly and eco conscious? In this modern world, many people are aware of the carbon footprint that they leave behind and are also conscious of the potential damage business’s they use cause to the environment. You could steal a march on your rivals by saying to your potential clients that you take that extra step to be more eco-friendly as you’re concerned about our future.
What does it take in these modern times?
What does it take to be an eco-friendly digital marketing company involved with eco web design and alike? We spoke with Flow Ink, an eco-friendly digital agency based in the county of Hertfordshire, about what it takes to be eco-friendly for a company that does most of its business online and here is what they shared with us. No longer does designing a website have to involve harming the environment!
Two Principles
Save, save and save
This doesn’t just relate to saving electricity either. Saving everything from lightbulbs to paper and gas usage will all have a big effect on the environment. Make this part of your digital marketing business’s culture. Always look to use as minimal paper as possible (even though you’re dealing in the digital realm, you’d be surprised how easy it is to waste paper!) and look to save the amount of energy used by the company by switching to low energy bulbs throughout the office. Other things you could do is to make sure all computer monitors get switched off at night, not just left on standby, and have a look into good insulation rather than central heating in the winter as this could save lots of money and energy.
Recycle, recycle and recycle
Even when you try to cut down your paper usage, chances are you’ll end up using quite a bit and end up with a fair bit of it as waste. Always make sure you recycle your thrown out waste paper because over time, the sheer amount you recycle will make a huge difference to the environment. It’s not just about A4 pieces of paper though.
Extend your paper recycling to all practices within your digital marketing business. Anything that can be recycled should be recycled! Set up points within the office for different recycling bins so you can be as eco-friendly as possible.
So can you really run a digital marketing agency and still be eco-friendly? Of course you can! It might take a bit more work to setup to start with, however once you’re finally designing eco-friendly websites using eco-friendly methods and practices, your business will be known as being positive towards the environment and it’ll help your business reputation in the short and long term.
