Happy Labor Day! We’re supposed to take the day off, we’re not supposed to labor, right? Not going to happen at Eco-Office Gals, I always work – it’s a bad habit. However, Labor Day is all about the sales, I can do that at least.

I was reading Top 10 WordPress Security Myths on ProBlogger, I have heard many people use every one of these excuses:

  1. WordPress is not secure.
  2. Nobody wants to hack my blog.
  3. My WordPress site is 100% secure.
  4. I only use themes and plugins from wordpress.org so they are secure.
  5. Updating WordPress whenever I log in is cool.
  6. Once my WordPress site is setup my job is finished.
  7. I’ll just install xyz plugin and that’ll take care of security for me.
  8. If I disable a plugin or theme, there is no risk.
  9. If my site is compromised I will quickly find out.
  10. My password is good enough.

Read the full post for rebuttals on each myth, it’s a great read! I’ve recently suggested similar wordpress security tips on Eco-Office Gals.

I would like to give some special attention to Myth #6:

Once my WordPress site is set up, my job is finished: Having a WordPress site is an ongoing commitment—it’s like having a dog. As a bare minimum your WordPress blog needs to be maintained when new updates come out. This is crucial even if you do not write new posts or otherwise update the content.

I’ve heard this assumption too many times! You can’t convince people otherwise until they wake up one morning and their WP site is hijacked, probably through a “back door” found in an out of date plugin. The whole site is gone because they couldn’t spend a little time each month making sure all the doors are locked. Don’t get me wrong, nothing is fool proof, but running WordPress updates regularly is one of a few simple steps to make your security just a little more robust.

What does all this lecturing about WP security have to do with a Labor Day Sale, you ask? Eco-Office Gals offers a monthly update package for your WordPress website. For one day only, I am offering 25% OFF the WordPress Maintenance Packages/wordpress-maintenance/” target=”_blank”>WordPress Maintenance Package regularly $50.00 per month

$37.50 per month today only.

This price is good for the life of your subscription. Eco-Office Gals will log into your site periodically throughout the month and run all maintenance updates as needed.*

The Paypal button below is set for your reduced subscription price, this button will only be active for Labor Day 2012 – Don’t miss out!! Have a wonderful and safe Labor Day!

(If you currently have a paypal subscription with EOG for updates, hosting or otherwise please do not use this button. Paypal does not allow you to have multiple subscriptions with to the same account. Contact me to make other payment arrangements.)

This offer is expired please see the regular WordPress Maintenance Package to purchase this service.

* Some fine print stuff: Updates include regular maintenance updates (3-digit) of WordPress, plugins and themes only. Major WP roll outs (2-digit) and full backups are not included, broken plugins upon update will be deactivated and replacement plugin is not included in cost. Themes which are incompatible with updates will not be repaired as part of monthly updates cost. If your theme breaks upon upgrade, a compatible theme may be recommended, or a request to restore the site back to pre-upgrade my be requested. Eco-Office Gals is not responsible for themes not designed by EOG.
