Jenn Savedge of The Green Parent, has long been our online guru of all things related to green parenting. She’s always giving us useful tips and projects for greening up our home, family and surroundings. She’s an all-around fun person to know and a great client to work with.
Recently, she focused her efforts into her newly released book “The Green Teen: The Eco-Friendly Teen’s Guide To Saving The Planet”. This easy to read book helps teens go green by merging environmental acts into their everyday activities. The Green Teen not only easily explains the how of going green, but also the why and follows up each chapter with resources, phone numbers and websites for quick access to further your knowledge. When facts are given, they are facts relevant to teens, like the number of gallons of water used to make a pair of jeans (which I must say shocked me!) or veggie meals that teens already love (i.e. cheese pizza).
I like that the book doesn’t try to scare teens into making insanely drastic changes, but rather lets them take a different look at the things they are already doing. It encourages making reasonable changes and being aware, which is how I see things at Eco-Office Gals as well.
So, I definitely encourage you to get a copy of The Green Teen for you, your teen, or your local school or library. That said, Jenn is giving the book tour post with the most comments $100 from Amazon. As much as I would love to go on a personal shopping spree, I much prefer Green & Clean Mom’s idea. If she wins the $100 dollars she will purchase 10 copies of the book and donate them to appropriate locations; YMCA, Teen Club, library, etc. So, do me a favor, go over to Green & Clean Mom and leave a great green teen comment on her post so we can help her win!
